Incorporated as an Indo-Swedish JV in the year 1962 in Chennai, India, the Company initially manufactured Mechanical Calculators and adding machines. The advent of Technology saw FAL, earlier known as Facit Asia Ltd, a Forbes Group Co. (a TATA Enterprise), diversify into the manufacture of Mechanical Typewriters. Today, FAL is a leading Exporter of Mechanical Typewriters.
Further diversification led FAL into the manufacture of Vacuum Cleaners with technology from Electrolux AB, Sweden. FAL is currently the largest manufacturer of Vacuum Cleaners in INDIA.
FACIT is the leading brand in Mechanical Typewriters and now the brand has been augmented by another office equipment – FACIT patriot shredders.
